Spring has sprung! Flowers are starting to pop their sleepy heads up from the ground and things are looking greener. In the spirit of things turning green and waking up from a long winter’s sleep I made a green smoothie. Green smoothies are a great way to start your day. It’s also a great way to cram in a bunch of good for you tasty ingredients into one delicious concoction.
I’d never put an avocado in a smoothie before and had been meaning to try it for a while. Avocado have a nice neutral flavor that goes well with many other flavors. So I am glad to report that today’s experiment in making a green smoothie with avocado was a success and without furthur ado, here’s the recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 avocado
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of power greens (you could also use spinach or your favorite greens)
- 1 cup of coconut water
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
- 6 ice cubes
- Chia seeds to garnish
Instructions
- Toss all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
